District Minister holds drought review meeting

Mysuru – District in-Charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa chaired a drought review meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office here this morning.

Addressing the meeting, Dr. Mahadevappa said that Chief Minister Siddharamaiah will chair the District KDP (Karnataka Development Project) meeting in the first week of May and asked the officials to be fully prepared for the meet.

The Minister sought detailed information from the officials on the measures taken to effectively tackle drought in the district.

Seeking statistics on providing drinking water, fodder and employment, the Minister explained the officials on the measures to be taken during monsoon which is likely to hit the State in the first week of June.

Stating that officials can submit proposals to the Government on more drought relief measures along with financial requirement, the Minister warned the officials against any laxity in the implementation of Government schemes and initiatives.

DC D. Randeep said that the district received 30.2 mm rains since January this year, while last year, the district had received 26.3 mm.

Giving a brief on the measures taken to tackle drinking water and fodder problems, the DC said a total of 47 villages, including 23 in three hoblis of Mysuru taluk, eight in three hoblis of Nanjangud taluk and 16 in three hoblis of Hunsur taluk which were facing water crisis, were supplied drinking water in 67 tankers.

Maintaining that there was substantial stock of fodder and there was no cause for worry.

Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Lingarajaiah gave details on the measures taken to tackle drinking water crisis in the taluk.

Minister Dr. Mahadevappatook Joint Director (JD) of Agriculture Somasundar to task for distributing expired Bio-fertilizers. ZP CEO P. Shivashankar, ADC Venkatesh, MUDA Commissioner Dr. M. Mahesh, MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha,  and other officials attended the meeting.
