Mysuru: City’s Agri-Scientist Dr. Vasanth Kumar Thimakapura was conferred with ‘Krishi Vijnana Ratna Award-2017’ by Lions Club of Mysore Heritage City in association with Dr. Sukanya, an NRI residing in Nairobi, Kenya.

PDG Ln. M. N.Jaiprakash, Club President Ln. C. H. Mallapur and other dignitaries were present.

He was also honoured with ‘Pride of Mysuru’ award by Pragathi Prathisthana for his outstanding contribution to the field of Agriculture at a function held at Kalamandira.  

Dr. Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, former Minister P.G.R. Sindhia and others dignitaries were present.

Dr. Thimakapura, who is well known as plant doctor, has rendered yeoman service from the past two decades to the farming community through his innovative research, products and extension.

As Lion member and District Chairman – Agriculture, Dr. Vasanth Thimakapura has conducted a number of free farmer training programmes on different crops in this region. He is also running a free Agri-clinic at his own cost for the benefit of the farming community.
