Elderly woman found murdered

Mysuru: An elderly woman was found murdered at her house behind the Old RMC yard in Bamboo Bazaar here on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Saliyamma (65), who was living alone in the house.

Meanwhile, one Pradeep, a neighbour of Saliyamma, has lodged a complaint with Mandi Police stating that one Lakshminarayana Murthy, a labourer at the Old RMC, was behind the murder.

It is learnt that Lakshminarayana, said to be a native of Tamil Nadu, had come to the house of his friend near Saliyamma’s house on Sunday and after he left in the evening, Saliyamma was found murdered.

Meanwhile, Mandi Inspector Ansar Ali, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar, shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary besides registering a case.

The body was handed over to the relatives of Saliyamma after post mortem yesterday.

Mandi Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating and have launched a hunt to nab Lakshminarayana Murthy, who is absconding.
