‘EQ is as important as IQ for career growth,’ says Union Minister Anant Kumar Hegde

Mysuru: “Emotional Quotient (EQ) is as important as Intelligence Quotient (IQ) for career growth and life in general,” averred Anant Kumar Hegde, Union Minister of State for Skill Development  and Entrepreneurship.

He was delivering the address at the 10th Graduation Day of JSS College for Women held at the College premises in Saraswathipuram here yesterday.

Hegde said that College life was good and enjoyable but pointed out that future career was full of challenges.

Referring to present day curriculum in education, he said that academics was for basic knowledge which should later on be put to practice with skill and entrepreneurship qualities.

Continuing, Hegde observed that values of life become evident during middle age and hence, advised students to introspect and act so that on growing in career they should become an inspiration for others.

He pointed out that a student should have a specific goal in life which should be achieved with perseverance and hard work.

Degree certificates were presented to 551 students of under-graduation courses and 102 of post-graduation courses.

Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, presided and administered the oath to graduating students.

Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji graced the occasion.

College Academic Dean Dr. H.B. Suresh, Controller of Examination Dr. G.R. Shivamurthy, College Principal Dr. K.V. Suresha and others were present.
