Mysuru: The Devaraja Traffic Police have yesterday arrested a man who had caused a road accident that killed a two-wheeler rider three years back and had not undergone punishment for the same.

The person even had managed to secure a job in as a driver with Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) in Bengaluru by withholding the information about the accident and the resultant punishment.

The accused here is 36-year-old Server Pasha, son of Peer Pasha, a resident of Kote Street at Saligrama in K.R. Nagar Taluk. Pasha was absconding since the past three years and he was apprehended at Chandra Layout in Vijayanagar, Bengaluru by Manjunath and Ramu of Devaraja Traffic Police Station. He was brought to Mysuru and was produced before a Court and was sent to jail.

CASE HISTORY: On Mar. 9, 2010, at around 10.15 am, one Nandeesh, a medical representative and the son of Yallappa, a resident of Bank Road 8th Cross, N.R. Mohalla was on his bike (TN-39-AR-806) to supply medicine samples to doctors. As he neared the SP Office near Nazarbad, a truck (KA-16-D-5553) belonging to a gas agency that was full of LPG cylinders hit Nandeesh’s bike from behind.

Booking a case of negligence, the then Devaraja Traffic Police Inspector B.S. Ramachandra had arrested Server Pasha and had filed a chargesheet. Hearing the case, the Third Additional CJM had sentenced Pasha to one-year imprisonment on Aug. 26, 2014.

Even before the verdict was pronounced, Pasha approached the BMTC for a job and he submitted an affidavit that he was not involved in any accidents. He managed to secure a driver’s job in 2013 and was posted at Chandra Layout BMTC Depot 17 and was allotted a badge number 21570. After the Court pronounced him guilty, Pasha appealed before the High Court and even went to Supreme Court and both the Courts had upheld the Mysuru Court’s verdict.

As Pasha was bound to undergo one-year imprisonment, the Court ordered the Police to arrest him so that he could be sent to jail. The Police then went in Pasha’s search and returned empty handed from his village and other possible hideouts.

Before appointing him as its driver, the BMTC enquired the K.R. Nagar Police about Pasha’s antecedents and the Police had told them that there was no case against Pasha. Surprisingly, even the online data uploaded by each Police Station regarding criminal cases did not show up Pasha’s case.
