Ex-PM H.D. Deve Gowda to inaugurate Rani Abbakka Utsava in city on Feb.10

Mysuru:  A two-day Rani Abbakka Samskrutika Utsava (Cultural Festival) has been organised at Maharaja’s College Grounds in city on Feb.10 and 11 under the aegis of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Sangha and organisations of Coastal regions, in co-operation with Rani Abbakka Utsava Samithi, Ullal, Mangaluru.

Former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda will inaugurate the Fest at 10.45 am on Feb.10. MP and former Chief Minister Dr. M. Veerappa Moily will inaugurate an Exhibition. Utsava Samithi Mysuru President Sudhakar S. Shetty will preside. Minister U.T. Khader (who is also the Hon. President of Utsava Samithi), MPs Pratap Simha and R. Dhruvanarayan, Legislators Vasu and S.R. Mahesh, former Minister S.A. Ramdas, Mayor Bhagyavathi, Industrialist B.M. Farooq, Utsava Samithi Ullal President Dinakar Ullal and Dakshina Kannada Zilla Sangha Mysuru President V. Sreenivasa Rao will be the guests of honour.

Prior to the inauguration, Sanskrit Group Singing and Bharatanatyam will be presented at 8.30 am; Devotional Songs by Puttur Narasimha Nayaka and troupe at 9 am; Prayer and Welcome Dance by Pramod Ullal and troupe at 10 am and Naada Geethe by Sunita Chandrakumar, Raghuleela School of Music and troupe at 10.30 am.

12.30 pm: ‘Tulunada Samskruti’ group dance by Ullal troupe.

1.30 pm: ‘Rani Abbakka Award’ presentation ceremony-1 — Minister Dr. Geetha Mahadevaprasad will confer the award on Tukaram Poojari and Dr. Ashalatha S. Suvarna of Abbakka Tulu Study Centre, Sanchayagiri, Mangaluru; Uttara Kannada Samskrutika Sangha President S.D. Sahukar, Industrialists Ganesh Narayana Hegde, U.K. Hameed and Mahesh Kamath will be the guests of honour. Industrialist M. Jagannath Shenoi will preside.

2.15 pm: Seminar – Dr. Gayatri Navada, B.M. Rohini and Sumangala will present a paper. Dr. Jamuna will preside.

4 pm: Dance-Drama ‘Bharatada Veera Ramaniyaru’ by Dr. Kripa Phadke of Nrityagiri, Mysuru.

5 pm: ‘Rani Abbakka Award’ presentation ceremony-2 — Sri Vidya Prasanna Theertha Sripadangal of Kukke Sri Subramanya Mutt will confer the award on journalist Vijayalakshmi Shibaruru; Chitpavana Brahmana Sangha President Srikara Hebbar, Mysuru Hotel Owners Association Charitable Trust President Ravi Shastri, Gowda Saraswata Brahmana Sabha President M. Mahesh Shenoi and Lingappa Gowda of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Gowda Sangha will be the guests of honour. Dakshina Kannada Zilla Sangha President V. Srinivasa Rao will preside.

6 pm: Mime show ‘Puranadinda Kaliyugadavarage.’

Participating poetesses – Dr. Kavita Rai, Dr. Lolakshi, Sahana Kanthabailu, Lavanya Prabhu, Vijayamala, Champa Shivanna and Dr. Chandrakala Nandavara.
