Mysuru: The written exam conducted by the Karnataka Service Commission (KPSC) for the recruitment of Excise Guards was held today at 52 centres across the city.

A total of 21,146 candidates had opted for centres in city for the written exam. The exam was held in two sessions — first paper on English and Kannada in the morning, second paper on General Knowledge in the afternoon. Tight Police security was provided around all the Centres.

NEET: The National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to Under Graduate Medical and Dental courses, passed off smoothly at all the 158 centres in city this morning. The City Centres included Sadvidya School, Police Public School and Mahajana Public School in city.

Acress the State, a total of 1.2 lakh students have registered for UG NEET 2017 test at Centres in Bengaluru, Kalaburagi, Davangere, Mysuru, Belagavi, Mangaluru, Hubballi and Udupi.

414 out of 420 candidates appeared for the exam at Mahajana Public School, one of the Centres, according to School Principal Rajeshwari Iyer.

Students appearing for the exam were asked to follow a strict dress code and were not allowed to wear shoes. They were asked only to wear slippers with low heels. Also, the students were barred from carrying drinking water bottles, snacks, any stationary, electronic gadgets, any metallic items and accessories.

The students were provided pens at the Centre for writing of particulars on the test booklet and responses on the answer sheet. The NEET which commenced at 9.30 am, concluded at 1 pm.

Elaborate security arrangements were made at all the 15 Centres in city.

This is the first year that NEET was conducted after the Common Entrance Test (CET) was scrapped for Medical and Dental aspirants.

Now, NEET is the only qualifying test for Medical and Dental seats.
