ZP CEO B.R. Poornima opens 3-day District Police Sports Meet

Mysore/Mysuru: “Exercise is important for good health and everyone should keep at least one-and-a-half hours daily for oneself,” said Zilla Panchayat (ZP) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) B.R. Poornima.

She was speaking after inaugurating the three-day District Police Annual Sports Meet by freeing a pigeon and receiving a guard of honour at the District Armed Reserve (DAR) Parade Grounds at Jyothinagar here this morning.

“Keep at least one-and-a-half hours for yourself. Exercise daily and keep yourself healthy and fit. I love the Police Department. My parents were working in the Health Department and hence I grew up mostly in the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Quarters. My brothers are serving in the Police Department and hence, the Police Department is my favourite Department. Revenue Department is my parent Department,” she said.

Superintendent of Police (SP) R. Chethan, who too spoke, said that Police personnel work under pressure to maintain law and order and to keep the society healthy. In this backdrop, sports play an important role in keeping healthy and fit.

“By indulging in sports daily for good health and to keep one fit, it will also improve mental strength, self confidence and physical health so that the Police personnel can work better,” the SP added.

The participants were administrated the oath and an attractive march-past was held. Additional SP Dr. Nandini, other Police officials and staff were present.

The valedictory of the Annual Sports Meet will be held on Nov. 24. IGP (Southern Range) Pravin Madhukar Pawar will be the chief guest.
