Family of former T. Narasipur MLA accused of land grabbing attempt

November 7, 2022

Mysore/Mysuru: The family of a former T. Narasipur MLA (now late) has been accused of attempting to grab land worth crores of rupees in Mysuru city by creating fake documents.

Lalitha Jayagopal, daughter-in law of late T. Narasipur MLA Srinivas Iyengar and her sons Sudhir Jayagopal and Suman Jayagopal (grandsons of the former MLA) are the accused. They have been accused of attempting  to grab 3 acres and 4 guntas of land coming under Lalithadripura Survey No. 206, which is worth crores of rupees, by creating fake documents, according to a complaint lodged by Varuna Hobli Revenue Inspector D.S. Shankar with the jurisdictional Alanahalli Police on Nov. 4.

Details: Former MLA late Srinivas Iyengar’s grandson Sudhir Jayagopal, a resident of Rajajinagar, Bengaluru, had applied to the Taluk Office on Apr. 26, 2021 seeking  Pouthi Khata change in respect of 3 acres and 4 guntas of land in Lalithadripura Survey No. 206. But in reality, this land originally belonged to the Government, which was later sanctioned to one Vajram Iyengar of Melukote decades ago. The current RTC in respect of the said land too stood in the name of Vajram Iyengar. But Sudhir Jayagopal in an attempt to grab the land, had applied for Pouti Khata change in his family name, by producing a fake family tree, a  death certificate and other fake documents. Subsequently, the Taluk Office had taken action under MRH-28/20-21 proceedings of the land section, which had acted based on the contents of the application and the documents submitted along with it.

After coming to know of the proceedings, B.N. Nagendra, an RTI activist, filed an objection alleging that this was an attempt  to grab the land by submitting fake documents by the family members of the late former MLA.

Taking note of the objection, Additional Deputy Commissioner directed Mysuru Additional Tahsildar N. Vishwanath to look into the matter.

On scrutiny of the documents, Vishwanath found that the documents submitted were fake, cancelled the MRH-28/20-21 proceedings and instructed Varuna Hobli Revenue Inspector on Sept. 7 to register a criminal case against those who had attempted to grab the land.

Acting on the instruction, Revenue Inspector D.S. Shankar lodged a complaint at Alanahalli Police Station, following which the Police have booked  a case under IPC section 465, 468, 471, 420 read with section 34.
