Mysore/Mysuru: On the occasion of World Cartoonist Day (May 5), city’s KMPK Charitable Trust felicitated cartoonists M.V. Nagendra Babu (Star of Mysore) and Doddanna Hundi Rajanna with “R.K. Laxman Smruthi Award.”
Social worker Dr. K. Raghuram Vajpayee feted them for their contribution to the field of cartooning at a programme that took place at svm foundation, Vidyaranyapuram yesterday.
Nagendra Babu, popularly known as Banter Babu, has drawn more than 19,000 cartoons in a span of 3 decades, held solo international exhibitions at Taiwan, USA, Singapore and is the only Indian cartoonist to be awarded Fulbright Fellow from US Department of State.
He has brought out a book titled “Babu’s Banter – A Cartoonist’s Retrospective” in 2015 on the eve of silver jubilee of cartooning.
Rajanna has drawn pocket cartoons for more than a decade.
muda members Naveen Kumar and Lakshmi Devi, activists Mahendra Singh Kalappa and Vikram Iyengar were present at the event.
Postponed
The cartoon exhibition titled “Corona Premium League” scheduled to be held at Mysuru Art Gallery yesterday has been postponed due to COVID Curfew.
