Fit India Campaign: MP’s Sports Festival for children on Dec. 21

Mysuru: The fourth edition of Children’s Athletics Championship, organised under the aegis of Rotary Club of Heritage Mysore, will take place at Chamundi Vihar Stadium in Nazarbad here on Dec. 21 at 8 am.

Announcing this at a press meet here yesterday, Rotary Heritage President Rtn. M.S. Raju said that this championship has been organised for children aged between 4 and 18 years, as part of MP’s Sports Festival.

The championship will be held under different age groups — 4 to 6 years (40 mtrs. run and ball throw), 7 to 9 years (60 mtrs. run, ball throw and high jump), 10 to 12 years (80 mtrs. run, javelin throw, long jump and 4×100 mts. relay), 13 to 15 years (100 mtrs. run, 600 mtrs. run, long jump, shotput and 4×100 mts. relay) and 16 to 18 years (100 mtrs. run, 400 mtrs. run, 1000 mtrs. run, long jump, shotput and 4×100 mts. relay).

Kalisu Foundation Founder M.M. Nikhilesh, who also addressed the press meet, said that MP’s Sports Festival (Kreeda Mahotsava) is being organised as part of Fit India Campaign of the Union Government.

Pointing out that Rs. 299 is being collected from participants of the Children’s Athletics Championship in order to meet the expenses of the tournament, he said that, however, those children who find it difficult to pay the participation fee, will be extended financial support from  service organisations in order to enable them to take part.
