Mysore/Mysuru: Continuing their operation against footpath encroachers in city, the Mysuru City Traffic Police, who conducted drives on Aug. 16, 17, 18 and 19 across the city, have booked a total of 21 cases besides issuing 34 notices and collecting a total of Rs. 9,000 as fines in four days.
On Aug. 16, Devaraja, Krishnaraja, Narasimharaja, Siddarthanagar and V.V. Puram Traffic Police personnel, who conducted the drives on JMP Road, Chamaraja Double Road, M.G. Road, K.T. Street, Bannur Road and Hebbal Main Road, registered four cases under Karnataka Police Act (KPA) and three cases under Indian Motor Vehicles Act (IMVA), besides issuing 10 notices to footpath encroachers and collecting a total of Rs. 3,000 as fine.
On Aug. 17, the Traffic Cops conducted the footpath clearance drives on Ramanuja Road, Bannur Road and Gokulam Main Road, during which 10 notices were served to footpath encroachers.
Three cases under IMVA were booked against footpath encroachers on Aug. 18 and the Cops have issued nine notices besides collecting Rs. 3,000 as fines. The footpath encroachment clearance drives were held on M.G. Road, Kabir Road, Nazarbad Main Road and on KRS Road.
On Aug. 19, the drives against footpath encroachers were held on Benki Nawab Street, Chavadi Street, New Sayyaji Rao Road, Male Mahadeshwara Road and Hebbal Main Road by Devaraja, Krishnaraja, Narasimharaja, Siddarthanagar and V.V. Puram Traffic Police, during which eight cases under KPA and three cases under IMVA were booked besides issuing notices to five people and collecting a total of Rs. 3,000 as fines.
DCP (Crime & Traffic) M.S. Geetha Prasanna and ACP (Traffic) S.E. Gangadharaswamy guided staff of all Traffic Police Stations in the footpath encroachment clearance drives.
