Mysore/Mysuru: In separate cases, four persons including a girl student have died of drowning and suicide in and around the city.
In the first case, a 24-year-old M.Com graduate was drowned at Balamuri near city yesterday.
The deceased is M.S. Yogesh, son of Somashekar and a resident of Vidyaranyapuram in city.
Yogesh along with three of his friends went to Balamuri near KRS yesterday morning. While they were playing in the water, Yogesh is said to have been drowned at about 3.30 pm. Yogesh’s friends informed the jurisdictional KRS Police as well as his parents.
KRS Police, who rushed to the spot, summoned expert divers and swimmers to trace the body of Yogesh. The body was finally fished out at about 10.30 pm and was shifted to MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem. KRS Police have registered a case.
In the second case, Abhishek Nayak (24), son of Arasanayaka and a resident of Veeranagere in city, who had gone for a swim along with seven others to Varuna Canal, near Vajamangala on Saturday after has met his watery grave.
His body was found floating near Chowhalli yesterday evening and has been fished out.
Alanahalli Police, who have registered a case, have shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem.
In the third case, a 23-year-old girl student has committed suicide by hanging self at her home yesterday afternoon.
The deceased is M.L. Likitha, daughter of Lokesh, Sub-Inspector at Hunsur Town Police Station and a resident of Jalapuri in city. She was pursuing her final year M.Sc course at Mysore University.
The reason for Likitha to take the extreme step is yet to be known.
Nazarbad Police, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar, shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary besides registering a case.
In the fourth case, a 55-year-old man, who had sustained injuries during construction of a house and availed treatment for the same, collapsed and died while waiting for a bus at Nanjangud Bus Stand yesterday.
The deceased has been identified as Basavaraju, a construction worker and a resident of Koodalapura village in Nanjangud taluk.
Basavaraju was working at an under-construction house at Muddanahalli village in Nanjangud yesterday, when he was reportedly injured due to the heat produced by the concrete mixer and its handle hitting him.
He was taken to a hospital, where he was provided treatment and was dropped to Nanjangud Bus Stand, where he collapsed and died at about 1 pm.
Nanjangud Police, who rushed to the spot, registered a case and shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary in city.
