Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), which is providing various facilities in a view to make it passenger-friendly, will be providing free Wi-Fi facility in all KSRTC buses soon.
With all types of buses in KSRTC, North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) and North East Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NEKRTC) to provide free Wi-Fi facility, Karnataka becomes the first State in the country to provide such facility in Government buses with 18,000 buses of KSRTC, NWKRTC and NEKRTC providing the facility.
Out of 18,000 buses, KSRTC has 8,320 buses, NWKRTC 6,165 buses and NEKRTC has 5,049 buses. From the next month, all these buses will provide free Wi-Fi facility for its passengers.
At present, KSRTC is providing free Wi-Fi facility at 24 bus stands and the authorities have planned to increase the facility to 450 bus stands for which tender would be called by this month end, said sources.
The tender to provide Wi-Fi facility in all 18,000 buses of the three Corporations, has been bagged by a Pune-based company.
