B. Narayanaswamy’s biography released

Mysuru: Bemoaning the rise in corrupt practises post Independence, freedom fighter H.S. Doreswamy said, now it seems that the hard earned freedom from the British, had fallen into the hands of the corrupt.

He was speaking after releasing freedom fighter B. Narayanaswamy’s Biography ‘My Reminiscences’ at Ramamandira in Krishnamurthypuram here yesterday.

Regretting that the living standards of the people had not improved even after seven decades of Independence, Doreswamy expressed concern over the growing gap between the rich and the poor.

Blaming the politicians for poverty still remaining in the country, the veteran freedom fighter said that politicians who make numerous pre-election promises, forget the promises made after coming to power and this attitude has been the root cause for poverty and sufferings of the people.

Condemning the Police firing on farmers at Madhya Pradesh, Doreswamy lashed out at the MP Government for distorting facts about the farmers agitation there.

District Freedom Fighters Association President M.G. Krishnamurthy, in his address, regretted that Governments were ignoring the sacrifice of  freedom fighters.

Regretting the growing trend of dynasty politics and rise in corruption, he lashed out at the MCC for failing to name a prominent road of the city after freedom fighter B. Narayanaswamy. He warned of staging a demonstration, if the MCC failed to act on the pleas of freedom fighters in this regard.

MLA Vasu, who also spoke, recalled that B. Narayanaswamy rejected a Cabinet berth in Kengal Hanumanthaiah’s Ministry and this showed the humbleness of the veteran freedom fighter.
