Fusion Music concert at Ganabharathi on Jan. 5

January 4, 2018

Mysuru: Ganabharathi has organised a Fusion Music Concert by R. Vishnu on Jan. 5 at Veene Seshanna Bhavan in Kuvempunagar at 6 pm.

Vishnu is well-known as the Founder of Contemporary World Music groups ‘Vishnu R Collective’ and ‘Karmic Blues.’ Hailing from an artistic family, Vishnu is one of the few guitarists today, with a superlative command over Indian Classical and modern Jazz aesthetics.

An accomplished and trained Guitarist, Vocalist and Percussionist (Khanjira), Vishnu’s cross-cultural explorations within the realm of Karnatak and Jazz music has gained him international attention, with performance opportunities across India, Europe and USA. He is a Grade 8 distinction holder in Western Classical Guitar performance from the Trinity College of London. Vishnu has studied with eminent musicians Neil Mukherjee, Denis Stern (Russia), Guitar Prasanna, T.V.Ramprasadh (Karnatak vocal) and B.S. Purushottam (Khanjira).

Vishnu has collaborated with some of the most distinguished names in music such as Padma Vibhushan Umayalpuram Sivaraman, Padma Shri A.Kanyakumari, Srinivas Krishnan’s Global Rhythms (mentored by A.R.Rahman), Karthick Iyer, Ghatam Suresh, Maarten Visser, Jeoraj George, Denis Stern (Italy), Ueli Gasser (Switzerland), Oliver Fox (Germany, Sax), Matteo Capreoli (Germany), Ricardo Passos (Brazil), Pascal Lovergne (France), Steve Zerlin (USA), and Ayman Boujlida (Tunisia, Drums), to name a few.

Vishnu, who has been awarded the Pogo Amazing Musician award in 2010, has also played guitars for numerous Tamil Films, his most recent ones being Mirchi Shiva’s ‘Sonna Puriyadhu’ and ‘Maan Karate’ with Anirudh Ravichander.

‘Vishnu R Collective’ presents a unique musical experience that is best defined as a Global Voyage – a multi-dimensional and unique journey of music, with a contemporary Indian outlook. One can expect technical brilliance, moving melodies, out-of-the-box improvisation and ultimately a wholesome experience of music at its best !

It would be really helpful, if SOM publishes details like date, venue & ticket prices for event like plays, concerts etc. on the same page along with the movie details. Even though lots of cultural events take place in Mysuru, many of them get missed as no data is available prior to the event.
