Sir,
I wish to raise a serious concern regarding the irresponsible dumping of garbage in vacant sites and open spaces in 3rd Stage, New Devanur Extension, near JFC Football Ground in Rajivnagar, Mysuru.
People with no civic sense are throwing household waste, plastic, medical waste and other hazardous materials in vacant spaces, creating unbearable smell and serious health risks.
Stray dogs and cows are eating this plastic and waste, putting their lives in danger. Many times, the garbage is also burnt, releasing harmful smoke into the neighbourhood.
One major reason is irregular garbage collection. The collection vehicle comes only once in three to four days, forcing residents into difficulty. However, dumping waste in open spaces is not the solution. We are spoiling our own surroundings and destroying our own environment.
I request the Chief Minister’s Office and Mysuru City Corporation to immediately ensure daily garbage collection, or at least alternate-day collection as Dasara too is fast approaching.
Strict warning boards must be displayed and heavy fines should be imposed on those dumping waste in open sites.
