Garuda Dwajarohana sets the ball rolling for Vyramudi Utsava in Melukote

As part of Vyramudi Utsava, Garuda Dwajarohana was organised on a grand scale here yesterday. The Dwajapata was installed to invoke Garudadeva with Vedic rituals.

The Mantapa Vahanothsava of the presiding deity Sri Cheluvanarayanaswamy was organised in the morning followed by Hamsavahanothsava   in the night.

Devotees from Srirangam, Tamil Nadu, who have arrived at Melukote to participate in Vyramudi Utsava and Ramanuja Sahasramanothsava, presented four white canopies worth Rs. 40,000 to the Temple yesterday

The precious Vyramudi will adorn the deity on April 5 and lakhs of devotees are expected to participate in the festivities.

The Temple authorities and District Administration have made elaborate arrangements for the occasion with illumination of Rajagopura and main thoroughfares of the town.
