Gazebo, garden inaugurated at Vijayanagar First Stage Park

Mysuru: A newly-constructed gazebo was recently inaugurated at the park in front of Sri Yoganarasimhaswamy Temple, Vijayanagar First Stage. MLAs G.T. Devegowda, Vasu and Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha inaugurated the gazebo and the garden.

Mayor M.J. Ravikumar, MUDA Chairman D. Dhruvakumar, Corporator Pushpalatha Chikkanna and MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha were present along with the office-bearers and members of Vijayanagar First Stage Residents Welfare Association.

The 40X40 gazebo (a pavilion structure, sometimes octagonal or turret-shaped, often built in a park, garden or spacious  public area) has been built at a cost of Rs. 10 lakh. The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) sanctioned Rs. 5 lakh and MLA Vasu had sanctioned Rs. 5 lakh from the MLA funds.

Speaking after inaugurating the gazebo and the garden, MP Pratap Simha said that other Residents Welfare Associations in city too must come up with such projects that can beautify the parks and also attract more people towards greenery  and conservation.

MLA Vasu said that due to the constant supervision by the Vijayanagar First Stage Residents Welfare Association, the gazebo was completed with Rs. 10 lakh. “If the gazebo was handed over to a contractor, we would have ended up paying Rs. 20 lakh,” he said. Vasu suggested handing over the maintenance of such parks to IT and Multi-National Companies. “This particular park will be maintained by    JK Tyres,” Vasu added.

MUDA Chairman D. Dhruvakumar, who stays in Vijayanagar First Stage, assured the gathering that he would strive to get funds for a library in the area and initiate other development activities. While MLA G.T. Devegowda, also a resident of the area, assured that he would actively contribute for the development of the park, Mayor M.J. Ravikumar said that he would sanction funds for a modern water fountain to enhance the park’s beauty.

On the occasion, yoga teacher P.M.S. Gowda and yoga student Anupallavi were felicitated.

Over 500 residents of the area participated in the inauguration.

Secretary of Vijayanagar First Stage Residents Welfare Association Sudhakar Shetty welcomed the gathering and President M.K. Nanjaiah delivered introductory remarks.
