German lady molested atop Hill: Police grill three suspects

February 21, 2017

In the wake of a 23-year-old German woman being molested and robbed atop Chamundi Hill last evening, the KR  Police this morning took three suspects into custody for interrogation.

The Police team headed by K.R. Inspector Prakash rounded off the trio from in and around the Hill based on the description given by the victim. Following the complaint by the woman, Police had prepared the sketches of the accused.

In her complaint, the woman said that she had been to Chamundi Hill yesterday evening and took a bus to reach the temple. While returning at around 5 pm, she chose to take the steps. While she was descending the steps, a miscreant pounced on her and molested her. He then snatched Rs. 2,500 cash that was in her vanity bag and fled.

The woman has sustained injuries on her lips and body. She had come to India on a three-month tour and has been camping in Mysuru since the last three days.

CCTV CAMERAS: Police are now installing CCTV cameras at three places – at the base of the Hill, near Nandi Statue and near the View Point.  “We are in touch with some sponsors and 3 cameras will be installed either today or tomorrow. If we get more sponsors, five more cameras will be installed,” Police sources said.

MY SINCERE REQUEST TO THE DC & OTHER AUTHORITIES WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE UPKEEP OF CHAMUNDI TEMPLE, HILL & PREMISES. I FEEL VERY SAD & PAINED TO SAY THAT SO MANY UN AUTHORISED SHOPS & HOUSES HAVE SPRUNG UP IN THE TEMPLE VICINITY WHICH HAS TO BE REMOVED & MAINTAIN THE PLACE CLEAN AND LESS CROWDED. I AM NATIVE OF MYSORE SETTLED IN MUMBAI, I VISIT CHAMUNDI HILL VERY OFTEN WHENEVER I COME TO MYSORE. OF LATE I DON’T FEEL LIKE COMING TO THE HILL AS IT IS CROWDED MORE DUE TO THESE SMALL VENDORS & TRADERS THEY HAVE TO BE RESTRICTED TO HAWK. NEW CONSTRUCTION OF HOUSES HAS TO BE STOPPED COMPLETELY TO KEEP THE BEAUTY & SERENITY OF THE HILL . HOPE AUTHORITIES WILL TAKE IMMED ACTION. THANKING YOU, VISHWANATH, MUMBAI
