Mysuru: There was celebration galore as students recalled their college days and the times they spent together at the Government Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital.
The Old Students Association of the 125-year-old Government Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital had organised a get-together here on Sunday at the Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar auditorium in the college premises on Sayyaji Rao Road, where more than 300 old students had gathered.
The students were completely engrossed in not only sharing their experiences in the classrooms and with the teachers, a few of them by revealing about the mischievousness they had indulged in evoked good laughter from their peers.
The President of the Association Dr. J.G. Vishwanathaiah, speaking on the occasion said, “This 125-year-old college has made its own mark and is regarded as one of the best Ayurveda Colleges in the country. The Old Students Association must work harder to see that in these days when there is so much importance the Government is giving to Ayurveda, it reaches greater heights.”
Later, some of the old students Dr. Aruna Mangalagi, Dr. Manonmani, Dr. Shantharam, Dr. Sudhanshu and Dr. Padma Gupta shared their experiences. A few of them also exhibited their cultural talents.
College Principal Dr. Gajanana Hegde, Ayush Department Joint Director and old student Dr. Sridhar, Convenor Dr. Anil Kumar and others were present.
Dr. Anil Kumar elected Alumni Association President
The following were elected unanimously as new office-bearers of Government Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital Old Students Association:
President: Dr. Anil Kumar; Vice-Presidents: Dr. Vedavathi and Dr. Raju Nyamagowda; Secretaries: Dr. Srivatsa and Dr. Rajendra Markumbi; Joint Secretaries: Dr. Sunitha Rani, Dr. Dinesh Shetty and Dr. Harikrishna; Treasurer: Dr. K. N. Krishnamurthy and Cultural Secretary: Dr. Ganesh Rao.
Working Committee Members are: Dr. Rama Rao, Dr. S.L. Narayan, Dr. Subramanya Rao, Dr. M.D. Sanjay Kumar, Dr. K. Panduranga and Dr. Sudhanshu.
Advisory Committee Members are: Dr. J.G. Vishwanathaiah,
Dr. Aprameya Raman and Dr. A.S. Chandrashekar.
