GP Polls: Liquor sales banned till May 31

Mysuru: With the Model Code of Conduct coming into force in the limits of 13 Gram Panchayats (GPs) in the district for which by-polls are being held at the end of this month, Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G. Sankar, who is also the District Magistrate, has banned sale of liquor in Poll-bound GP limits from May 13 to 31.

The GPs going to the by-polls for electing members to vacant seats are Hinkal, Yadakola, Anandur in Mysuru taluk, Hadinaru and Sindhuvalli in Nanjangud, Turganur and Benkanahalli in T. Narasipur, Hanagodu in Hunsur, Siddapura in K.R. Nagar,  Dodda Kamaravalli in Periyapatna and Hosaholalu, Hanchipura and Sagare in H.D. Kote taluk.

Accordingly, all liquor shops, sales outlets and manufacturing facilities located in the jurisdiction of these GPs have been asked     to shut down.

Also, the owners have been instructed to seal the shops and handover the keys to the Executive Magistrate, according to a press release.
