Gram Panchayat Member arrested for assaulting duty-bound Home Guard

Mysuru:  Yelwal Police have arrested a Gram Panchayat Member on charges of assaulting a Home Guard who was on duty near Yedalli, Yelwal Hobli in city.

The accused has been identified as Mallesh, Anandur Gram Panchayat Member.

Due to heavy inflow of water, the Police had banned entry of tourists to KRS backwaters by erecting barricades near Yedalli and the Cops were sending the tourists back.

On Aug. 14, Home Guard Girish who was on duty at the spot, was stopping vehicles and sending them back. Meanwhile, Anandur Gram Panchayat Member Mallesh, who arrived at the spot questioned Girish for stopping the vehicles besides abusing him using foul language and allegedly assaulted him.

Following complaint by Girish, Yelwal Police, who have registered cases under IPC Section 341, 504, 332 and 353, arrested Mallesh who has been remanded to judicial custody, according to Yelwal Police.
