GTD lays bare problems in his Constituency under Corporation limits

October 25, 2017

Mysuru: Chamundeshwari Constituency MLA G.T. Devegowda (GTD) gave very useful suggestions at the Council meeting here yesterday regarding the inclusion of layouts within the Ring Road limits into the Corporation.

The extensions should be fully developed and then transferred to the Corporation or the necessary expenses for developing the layouts should be remitted to the Corporation. Otherwise, the citizens will have to undergo untold hardships, he said.

A very good example for this is the Vijayanagar 3rd Stage. Basic facilities have not been provided to Ashraya houses in Shankerlingegowda Nagar. Ashraya houses constructed in the Corporation limits, all come under Chamundeshwari Constituency. However, without drinking water, garbage clearance and street lights, the residents are suffering a lot, said GTD.

According to the oral order of the Government, the Corporation has come forward to include the layouts within Ring Roads into its limits. But, a Comprehensive Layout Plan has not been prepared. Alanahalli, Hootagalli, Srirampura, Hinkal and a few other layouts have been included. However, a number of Layout names have been left out and there is lack of complete information, he said and added that a meeting of all the former Mayors should be called and opinions taken. An Engineering team should once again conduct a survey and prepare a Comprehensive Layout Plan by taking a scientific approach.

Along with it all the layouts should have Cauvery or Kabini water, he suggested.

Since the Chief Minister himself has orally directed, report on the funds required for development should be prepared and the Government should be urged to sanction it. An estimate for the development should be prepared and a proposal should be sent for Special Grant of Rs. 100 crore, he advised.

Lauded: BJP Corporator Shivakumar lauded the suggestions of GTD and all the Corporators voiced their praise by thumping the desks. There was also a feeling among the members that it was due to the upcoming elections that GTD was trying to impress the people. However, in the interest of the Corporation and the people, he has given valuable suggestions, lauded the Corporators.

A resident of Garudachar Layout in Vijaynagar 3rd Stage told SOM that in fact they held a meeting of the residents on Oct. 15. The meeting discussed the untold hardships the residents of this Layout, which comes under Hinkal Gram Panchayat, were facing.

“If only the MCC takes over our layout, we are ready to pay the Corporation taxes. But all we demand is asphalted roads, and Cauvery water for drinking,” said Manjunath, a resident of first main of this Layout.
