Gundlupet By-election: Ch’Nagar DC asks Banks to provide info on suspicious transactions

Chamarajanagar Deputy Commissioner B. Ramu held a meeting with the representatives of various Banks including the Nationalised, Private and Co-operative banks at his office here yesterday and instructed to keep a track of all the transactions in their Banks and report in case of suspicious transactions.

Addressing a meeting in the wake of Gundlupet By-polls, Ramu said that the measure was being taken to prevent the voters being lured with money   by the political parties.

The DC instructed the Bank officials to provide information on transactions of Rs. 50,000 and above which include deposit, withdrawal and transfer to other accounts. However, those availing loans from Banks and beneficiaries of the various Government schemes have been exempted.

Check-posts: The Excise Dept. has setup check-posts at various entry and exist points of Gundlupet to check for illegal transport of liquor during the campaigning for the by-election. The Department has posted Excise personnel at the check-posts who will be monitoring the vehicle moving in and out of the town.

In addition to this, the District Administration has set up check-posts at various locations in Gundlupet where vehicle travelling towards and outside the town are checked for illegal transport of money, gifts, liquor and other materials to lure the voters. Gundlupet has 250 polling booths, among which 37 have been declared as sensitive and 42 hyper-sensitive. The town has been provided with tight security with 5 platoons of KSRP, 12 Police SIs and 72 other Police personnel deployed in sensitive are hyper-sensitive areas.  More personnel will be deployed from Mandya, Madikeri and Hassan districts in the days to come.

Ramu, who is also the District Electoral Officer, has appointed Dept. of Agriculture Jt. Director Tirumallesh (82779-30760) as the Nodal Officer.
