Mysore/Mysuru: Health Department officials have enforced the closure of Sridevi Nursing Home in Bogadi due to violations of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act, 1994, enacted to prevent female foeticide and sex determination tests.
Upon inspection by the officials of the Health and Family Welfare Department, numerous violations were uncovered. The investigation was initiated based on information provided by the public, exposing irregularities.
It was revealed that the facility, operating without proper authorisation, conducted ultrasounds, including adaptive scanning. Furthermore, the inadequate preservation of data on pregnant women and foetus growth was noted, failing to comply with regulations.
Subsequent investigations disclosed that several staff members lacking an MBBS in gynaecology were engaged in performing scans. The owners failed in proper record-keeping, jeopardising the integrity of health examinations for pregnant women, scanning procedures & abortion-related information.
In contravention of regulations, the nursing home neglected to furnish essential details. The inspection also brought to light issues concerning the discharge of patients without adhering to proper protocols.
