Heavy rain continues to lash Mysuru; brings down huge tree

June 5, 2018

Mysuru:- Heavy rain continued to lash the city yesterday which brought down a huge tree and disrupted traffic.

The rain which began in the afternoon continued for nearly two hours. A huge tree on MG Road near Double Water Tank came down and as a result traffic was affected.

MCC’s Abhaya Team reached the spot and cleared the tree enabling the traffic to move freely. There was water logging in several places which caused problems to the public and motorists.

Sewage water enters home, forces residents to vacate: Sewage water from the underground drainage entered a home, forcing the family to vacate the house and take shelter elsewhere. The incident occurred at B.M. Sri Nagar, 2nd Main Road, 7th Cross, in the house of Chandrashekar.

Unable to bear the foul smell, he along with his family moved to his relatives house in Belavata village. Whenever it rains heavily, the rainwater enters his home through the toilet. Since 15 days the family was living in this hell.

He has appealed to every official in the MCC including the local Corporator. However, they have been giving one excuse or the other and keep postponing the work. One day they got the jetting machine and pretended to do the work but the problem was not resolved.

As the sewage water entered the home, Chandrashekar was forced to lock his house and move out with his family. However, the neighbours are now bearing the brunt of the problem as the whole area  stinks. They are cursing the Corporation officials.

The residents have threatened that if the problem is not solved they would collect the sewage water in bottles and stage protest in front of the Corporation Commissioner.
