Mysuru: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Kodagu on Tuesday, May 20, warning of intense rainfall and possible disruptions.
An orange alert has also been issued for nine districts for May 20 — Belagavi, Bagalkot, Dharwad, Shivamogga, Uttara Kannada, Haveri, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru and Dakshina Kannada — predicting heavy to very heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds. A yellow alert remains in effect for other districts, including Bengaluru.
The IMD has further issued a red alert for Belagavi, Uttara Kannada, Shivamogga, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru and Dakshina Kannada on May 21, forecasting extremely heavy rainfall exceeding 204.5 mm in 24 hours.
The downpour may trigger flooding, landslides, service disruptions, and evacuations in vulnerable areas. An orange alert has been issued for Hassan, Haveri, Kodagu and Dharwad, while the rest of the State, including Bengaluru, remains under a yellow alert.
