Mysore/Mysuru: Former Vice-Chancellor of University of Mysore Prof. K.S. Rangappa has said that the Indian teachers command respect at the global level with their knowledge, discipline, morality and communication skills.
He was addressing Udgama ceremony for first year B.Ed students at BGS B.Ed College in Kuvempunagar here on Monday.
The teaching profession is regarded as sacrosanct and respectable, with the creative credit going to teaching fraternity. About 30 years back, a maximum of three days was required to communicate with any person in any part of the world. Now, it takes split seconds of time, which was made possible by Science teachers, the ex-VC noted.
In this current era defined by competition, the constant update of knowledge is very much essential. Or else, one cannot be competitive enough to fit the bill, said Prof. Rangappa.
The B.Ed degree inculcates qualities such as tolerance, discipline and confidence. More than that, B.Ed graduates have worldwide opportunities, he added.
Adichunchanagiri Mutt Mysuru Branch Seer Sri Someshwaranatha Swamiji, who is also the Secretary of BGS Institutions, gave a call to the students to dream big and work towards realising the same. On the occasion, the Seer feted Prof. Rangappa
Administrative Officer Yashoda, Principal Dr. Nagaraj, teachers and students were present at the ceremony.
