Mysuru: The School of Physical Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru Campus, had organised the second International Conference on Advances in Chemical and Physical Sciences (ICACPS) recently.
The Conference was inaugurated by Dr. V.A. Sajeevkumar, Scientist ‘G’ and Associate Centre Head at the Defence Institute of Biodefence Technologies (DIBT), Mysuru.
In his keynote address, Dr. Sajeevkumar emphasised the significance of Chemistry and Physics as foundational pillars of technology, highlighting their applications in real-world innovations. He also shed light on DIBT’s contributions to India’s defence sector and ISRO, showcasing the interdisciplinary impact of fundamental sciences on national development.
A key highlight of the inaugural session was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Quantumzyme, Bengaluru and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru Campus, aimed at fostering research collaborations.
The event witnessed the collaboration between the Department of Sciences, Department of Commerce and Management and Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) to launch the ‘Science for Sustainability’ movement under the Government of India’s ‘EkPedMaaKeNaam’ initiative.
As part of this initiative, BEML donated 200 saplings to the participants, promoting environmental awareness.
The Conference featured scientific talks by eminent speakers, including Prof. Suresh Valiyaveettil (National University of Singapore), Prof. Uday Maitra (IISc., Bengaluru), Dr. Navin Kulkarni (CEO, Quantumzyme, Bengaluru), Dr. T.P. Vinod (Christ University, Bengaluru), Dr. B.K. Bettadaiah (CFTRI, Mysuru), Dr. Debasish Manna (IISER Bhopal), Dr. AnkitaTripathi (Quantumzyme, Bengaluru) and Dr. K. Sooraj (IIT Madras).
Prof. Shekar Babu, Associate Dean; Prof. G. Ravindranath, Principal; Dr. K. Shiva Prasad, Research Head and others were present on the occasion. Participants engaged in a poster presentation session featuring over 60 research posters by students and researchers from institutions across India. Best posters were awarded.
The Conference provided a platform for intellectual exchange and networking, fostering future research collaborations.
