Mysore/Mysuru: Lokayukta Dy.SP H.M. Shylendra has instructed the officers concerned to issue e-khata within 45 days of receiving the application to prevent the public from visiting the Office unnecessarily.
He was addressing the officers after receiving complaints from public at the Taluk Office, Nazarbad in city on Wednesday.
The officers should ask for relevant documents while considering the application for e-khata. If no documents are available, an acknowledgement should be issued to the complainant, after receiving the application. They should be advised to provide supportive documents, rather than making them drag their feet for no reasons.
Referring to the complaints, Dy.SP Shylendra said, majority of over 15 complaints received pertain to e-khata, followed by land disputes, drinking water bill and illegal power connections.
A contractor lodged a complaint against Panchayat Development Officer (PDO) for troubling him over clearing a bill towards a work.
Tahsildar Mahesh Kumar said, as Government Officers, if we respond to the public queries, there would be no reason to lodge a complaint. It is our duty to respond to people’s grievances within the ambit of law. Executive Officer of Taluk Panchayat Krishna and other officers were present.
