Mysore/Mysuru: JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER), in association with JSS Hospital, successfully organised ‘Art for Smiles,’ an inclusive art exhibition dedicated to nurturing creativity in paediatric care and supporting young patients through meaningful engagement.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. H. Basavanagowdappa, Vice-Chancellor of JSS AHER, R. Mahesh, Director, Medical Education, JSS Mahavidyapeetha (JSS MVP) and Dr. C.P. Madhu, Director of JSS Hospital.

The dignitaries commended the initiative for blending art and healthcare, highlighting the importance of holistic healing and emotional well-being in children undergoing treatment.

The event was initiated and organised by Dr. Varsha Tandure, Associate Professor, Department of Medicine and Dr. Megha Sadashiv, Senior Resident, Department of Psychiatry.

Their vision was to create a platform where art serves as a medium of hope and positivity for paediatric patients.

Through the exhibition, visitors were invited to explore and purchase original artworks from the medical students with 50 percent of the proceeds supporting participating artistes and the remaining 50 percent allocated toward providing art kits for paediatric patients at JSS Hospital.

The volunteers from JSS Kalakriti Club supported it wholeheartedly. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from doctors, faculty members and medical students, whose active involvement reflected a shared commitment to compassionate and community-oriented healthcare.
