Mysore/Mysuru: Thanya Shadakshari won two gold, one  silver and a bronze medal in Junior Group 1 category and created two new national records by breaking the 2022 & 2023 records in the recently held Junior National Aquatic Championship at Ahmedabad.

The 16-year-old Thanya participated in the Junior Group-1 category and created two new National Records in 200 mtrs breaststroke (timing of 2:38:67 sec) by breaking the old record timing of 2:40:36 sec set in 2022 and 400 Individual Medley event (timing of 5:03:15 sec) by breaking the previous record of 5:08:50 sec in 2023.

She also won silver in 1500 mtrs freestyle with a timing of 17:35:49 sec and bronze in  800 mtrs Freestyle with a timing 9:26:77 sec.             

Thanya is training under Gagan Ullalmath of Jain Academy for Sporting Excellence. She is studying I PUC in The Jain Sports School, Bengaluru.

She is the daughter of S.P. Shadakshari and N. Shwetha, residents of J.P. Nagar in city.
