K.R. Pet: Two persons have been arrested yesterday on charges of murdering a woman at Vittalapura village in K.R. Pet Taluk.
The accused have been identified as 26-year-old Avinash, son-in-law of victim Leelavathi and 24-year-old Ravikumar, would be son-in-law of Leelavathi. The duo had gone absconding after committing the murder.
On July 9, the accused had smothered Leelavathi with a pillow, carried her dead body in an auto and had thrown the body from a new bridge into KRS backwaters near Sangapura. The accused had taken shelter in the house of their relatives.
The Police found the dead body on July 11 and it was identified as of Leelavathi of Vittalapura village. K.R. Pet Rural Sub-Inspector Suresh, who took up investigation, found that Avinash and Ravikumar had gone missing from the day of murder. Later, the accused were caught at Hodakeshettahalli village and interrogated them.
The accused are said to have confessed of committing the crime due to frequent fights and had suspected her character. The duo were produced them before a Court.
The investigation team headed by Police Inspector Niranjan, comprised Sub-Inspector Suresh, Assistant Sub-Inspector Kumuda and staff Arun, Nagaraju, Kumar, Prashanth and others. Mandya SP Dr. M. Ashwini, ASP V. Dhananjay and Dy.SP Naveen Kumar have congratulated the Police team.
