Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep chaired a preliminary meeting at his office here yesterday to discuss on Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations to be organised on Nov.1.
The meeting decided to invite District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa to hoist the National flag and Kannada flag on that day at 9am and also offer puja to the portrait of Goddess Bhuvaneshwari.
Randeep asked the officers concerned to take steps to take out a colourful procession from Kote Anjaneyaswamy temple here carrying a portrait of Goddess Bhuvaneshwari.
He sought inclusion of tableaux of BEML, KSRTC, various Kannada organisations and Sthree Shakti Groups along with an array of folk troupes.
He also sought participation of school and college students and officials. He asked government officers to compulsorily participate in the programme.
Continuing, Randeep said that cultural programmes would be held at Kalamandira and District Minister would felicitate award winners.
Office-bearers of various organisations, who participated in the meeting, sought screening of only Kannada movies in theatres and also sought directions from MCC to business establishments to install Kannada signboards. Randeep assured the office-bearers that he would review and pass instructions to theatre owners to screen only Kannada movies for a week.
Additional DC T. Yogesh, Assistant Director of Department of Kannada and Culture Chennappa and others attended the meeting.
