Karnataka Janapada Academy awardees

Mysore/Mysuru:  A total of 30 artistes from 30 districts in State have been selected for the prestigious Karnataka Janapada Academy awards. The awardees include: Chennajamma of Mysuru (Sobane Pada and Folk songs), Honnaiah of Mandya (Kolata), Yogendra Dudda of Hassan (Gigi Pada, Lavani and Bhajan), Basavaraju of Chamarajanagar (Gorukana Nrithya) and Ammanni of Kodagu (Solagitti and Kudiya Community Songs). 

Two persons have been selected for Folklore Expert (Janapada Tagna) award and two others for Book Award.

The annual award includes a prize money of Rs. 25,000 each, Rs. 50,000 for Folklore Expert Award and Rs. 25,000 each for Book Award.

Dr. Immam Saheb Hadagali’s ‘Kanakagiri Seemeya Sthala Naamagalu’ and Dr. Meerasabihalli Shivanna’s ‘Kaadugollara Samskruthi Mathu Kavyagalu’ have been selected for Book Award-2024.
