Kharge also eyeing CM’s post: B.Y. Vijayendra

May 3, 2026

Mysore/Mysuru: As there seems to be no end to the power struggle between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his Deputy D.K. Shivakumar over the CM’s post, State BJP President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra said that AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge seems to have put in his towel too, going by his statement that the date of change of leadership has not yet been decided.

Speaking to media persons after seeking the blessings of Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji in Suttur Mutt at the foot of Chamundi Hill here yesterday, Vijayendra maintained that Kharge’s statement is an indicator that he too is in the race for the CM’s chair, for which post Siddaramaiah and D.K. Shivakumar have continued their tussle.

Charging that the State Government is riddled with corruption, Vijayendra said the Siddaramaiah-led Government seems to have lost humanity, with people struggling with their daily life like never before, with water bodies getting dried up faster due to soaring temperatures and cattle and other livestock dying for want of water and fodder.

Asserting that the Congress was going to lose both Davangere South and Bagalkot Assembly by-polls, he said that the Government must wake up at least after the  by-election results.

‘B.S. Yediyurappa Abhimanotsava’ on May 9

Vijayendra said that ‘B.S. Yediyurappa Abhimanotsava,’ marking 50 years of politics and struggles of former CM B.S. Yediyurappa, will be held at  Chitradurga on May 9.

Pointing out that he has invited Suttur Seer for the event, he said as many as 10 lakh people from across the State are expected to attend. Top BJP leaders including Union Home Minister Amit Shah will take part, he said adding that Seers from various mutts will be part of the event.
