KPA hosts 3-day workshop on modern policing practices

September 9, 2025

Mysore/Mysuru: For the first time in the history of Police training in Karnataka, the State Police Training Division had organised a three-day special workshop at the Karnataka Police Academy (KPA), Mysuru, marking a significant milestone in modernising Police training in the State.

The workshop on ‘Creating the Future – Transforming Police Training in Karnataka,’ was exclusively designed for the indoor division Police officers and instructors serving in the 11 Police training units across Karnataka.

Inaugurating the event, KPA Director S.L. Channabasavanna highlighted the importance of embracing innovation and transformation in training practices.

“Change is the law of the world. As the world evolves, new paradigms surround us. Individuals or societies that fail to adapt risk losing relevance. Teaching and training systems — critical to human resource development — must embrace innovation and undergo model transformations,” he said.

He emphasised that in today’s fast-paced era of information and technology, Police training institutions must adopt global models and methodologies to stay relevant. The workshop was conceptualised to introduce globally aligned instructional techniques to equip officers with skills to deliver high-quality, modern training to recruits and serving personnel.

Cutting-edge training methodologies

The workshop focused on developing cutting-edge training methodologies to enhance the effectiveness of Police instructors.

Key areas included the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in instructional design, group discussions, role play, case study techniques, crafting effective lesson plans, and improving personality development, professional growth and public-speaking skills of Police officers.

Participants received intensive, hands-on training in these areas, enabling them to become more effective trainers and mentors. Officers expressed their commitment to applying these new skills to improve training quality and to help develop competent, community-oriented Police personnel.
