Mandya: This is for the first time after a gap of four years the water levels in the reservoirs are reaching maximum level as rain continued to lash the catchment areas. The water level has reached 115.20 feet (on Wednesday at 8 am) in KRS near Srirangapatna in Mandya district against its full level of 124.80 feet and the inflow is recorded at 35,698 cusecs. There is an outflow of 3,658 cusecs.

The authorities are hopeful that the reservoir would reach the full level this year. The last time it happened was in 2013.

Torrential rains are lashing Kodagu district since last three days.  Bhagamandala, the birth place of River Cauvery and surrounding regions are bringing heavy inflow into the dam, said Irrigation Department officials.

The water level in KRS on the corresponding day last year was 78.70 ft. and the inflow was 4,051 cusecs.  The inflow would be minimum 30,000 cusecs for the next 72 hours as the catchment areas have been receiving good rains.

The authorities have decided to increase the discharge from the Kabini Reservoir in Mysuru district as the water level has reached full level and there is increase in the inflow.  The inflow recorded was 44,000 cusecs and outflow 43,000 cusecs. The water level is 2282.22 feet against the full capacity of 2284 feet.

With rains continuing to lash Kodagu region, the Harangi reservoir is also receiving heavy inflows of 14,973 cusecs this morning with authorities deciding to increase the discharge to 11,938 cusecs in order to maintain the dam level which stood at 2857.45 feet against the full capacity of 2,859 feet.

CM orders to release Cauvery water to TN

 As the water level in reservoirs built across River Cauvery is increasing rapidly and reaching maximum level due to copious rains in the catchment areas of Kodagu, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has ordered the release of water to Tamil Nadu.
