Kuvempu’s Kuppalli House comes alive at Lalbagh Flower Show

August 5, 2017

Bengaluru: Marking 50 years of the first Jnanpith Award (1967) to Rashtrakavi Kuvempu, this year’s Annual Flower Show at Lalbagh has a major attraction — a replica of Kavimane, the Poet Laureate’s house in Kuppalli, Shivamogga.

Governor Vajubhai R. Vala inaugurated the show yesterday.

Jog Falls and Kavishaila have also come alive at the Garden in the heart of the capital city.

Cut-outs show the Rashtrakavi during the different phases of his life. The Kavimane has been made out of 3.5 lakh Dutch roses, carnation flowers and orchids.

The Horticulture Department authorities will replace flowers once in three days to keep the  fresh look intact.  A total of 10.5 lakh flowers are likely to be used on the structure, height of which is 21 feet. The width is 38 feet.

Hundreds of visitors thronged Lalbagh on the first day of the annual flower show, which will be on till Aug. 15.
