Mysuru: Observing that even meritorious students are being deprived of job opportunities due to lack of information and guidance, In-charge University of Mysore (UoM) Vice-Chancellor Prof. C. Basavaraju regretted the very less number of students were getting selected in campus interviews.
He was speaking after inaugurating a Skill Development programme jointly organised by the UoM’s Capacity Building and Employment Opportunities Service Centre and Skills on Wheels at the Department of Mathematics auditorium here recently.
Regretting that though the University had quality and skilled teachers, less number of students were getting selected in campus interviews, Prof. Basavaraju opined that lack of proper guidance may be the reason for this.
Stating that a student’s future depends on the utilisation of talent and skills, he called upon the students to gain mastery over the language.
Pointing out that communication skills matter in interviews, he said that students should work towards enhancing their talent and skills.
Prof. Yashwanth Dongre, Skills on Wheels Director, S.V. Venkatesh, CPDPS Director, Dr. B.K. Tulasimala and others were present.
