Lack of career clarity can derail life, warns expert

April 28, 2026

Mysore/Mysuru: Career Counsellor Prashanth Kumar Nayak emphasised the importance of clarity of thought, stating that life can derail without a proper thought process.

He was speaking at a career counselling programme titled ‘What next after SSLC?’ and ‘Artificial Intelligence (Al) in Education and Career Choices’ organised by Nypunya PU College at Hotel Southern Star on Sunday.

“Clarity of thought is very important in life. Without it, both our personality and profession may move in a direction contrary to our intentions. Hence, the decisions we take must be clear. While confusion is natural during important decisions, it is essential to seek proper guidance,” he said.

He added that the world offers unlimited knowledge to those willing to learn. “How much knowledge we acquire depends on the individual. There are two types of decisions: Those that are permanent and those that can be changed. Discretion and patience are crucial while making decisions. Though we all dream of achieving something in life, we are often not prepared to put in the necessary effort. Hence, clarity in selecting our goals is essential,” he said.

Highlighting the impact of technology, Nayak noted that innovations have become a constant feature of the modern world, with machines increasingly powered by AI.

“This will further intensify competition. Therefore, education must equip students with skills such as confidence, leadership, teamwork, digital proficiency, financial awareness and management,” he added.

Educationist Prof. Gururaj Sreedhara described AI as a revolutionary tool that has made many tasks easier and more efficient. However, he cautioned that it could also pose challenges in the future.
