‘Noopura Shri’ award presented to Dr. C.G. Prahlad Rao
Mysore/Mysuru: Maintaining that learning Arts, Literature and Dance does not come in the way of studies, renowned Danseuse Dr. Kripa Phadke regretted that parents tend to discourage their wards from taking interest in extra curricular activities once they enter High School or PUC.
She was speaking at the 26th Sangeeta Nrithya Araadhana in memory of K. Vanajakshamma organised by Noopura Kalavidaru Samskrithika Trust, J.P. Nagar at Ganabharathi in Kuvempunagar here on Sunday, during which senior Medical Practitioner Dr. C.G. Prahlad Rao was conferred ‘Noopura Shri’ award.
Bemoaning the attitude of parents on focussing only on the academics of their wards, while showing little interest in other creative activities, Dr. Kripa Phadke, Director of Nrityagiri Academy of Performing Arts and Research Centre in city, said that there are multiple examples where students have excelled in academics too while simultaneously engaging in Dance, Music, Literary and Sporting activities.
Asserting that Dr. C.G. Prahlad Rao became popular among the public for providing health care during COVID crisis when most of the clinics had shut shop due to fear of pandemic, the Danseuse said that Dr. Rao is a model to medical fraternity in terms of service to society. It is a matter of pride that the Trust is honouring him with the award, she added.
Vidwan Sarang Bhagavat presented a Karnatak Music concert on the occasion. He was accompanied by Vid. Tumkur Yashaswi on violin and Vid. Prahlad Rao on mridanga. This was followed by Bharatanatyam recital by disciples of Vidu. Srividya Shashidar, Director, Sri Durga Nrutya Academy, Mysuru.
