Mysuru, Feb. 4- Mahajana Education Society (MES) had organised a grand reunion of its alumni titled ‘Maha Anubandha-2026’ at the Jagadish Prasad Stadium, SBRR Mahajana First Grade College, Mysuru recently.
The event witnessed the participation of distinguished alumni, academicians, administrators, artists and over 2,000 former students, celebrating the institution’s rich legacy of 88 years.
Padma Shri awardee Prof. K.N. Ganesh, Senior Student and Immediate Past Director of IISER Pune and Tirupati, SERB National Science Chair and former Director, New Chemistry Unit, JNCASR, Bengaluru, inaugurated the event.

Recalling his student days (1965-67), Prof. Ganesh expressed gratitude to MES, stating that the institution shaped his life by instilling values of faith, truth, discipline and scientific curiosity.
He fondly remembered his teacher, Anantrao, who encouraged him during academic struggles, especially in mathematics and English. “Though I was weak in science, today over 50 students have earned Ph.Ds under my guidance. The foundation for this journey was laid at MES,” he said, adding that the institution equips students to face future challenges with confidence.

N. Ramanuja, Senior Student and Immediate Past President and Managing Director, HMT (Ltd.), Bengaluru, appreciated the visionary role of MES since the pre-independence era. He recalled the institution’s commitment to education for the underprivileged, Kannada language promotion and initiatives like the student newspaper Abhyudaya, which nurtured writing skills.
Chief guest K. Harishgowda, MLA, Chamaraja Assembly Constituency, expressed pride in MES’ contribution to educating economically weaker sections.

Prof. N.K. Lokanath, Vice- Chancellor, University of Mysore, highlighted the importance of alumni as the backbone of educational institutions.
Renowned cancer specialist Dr. Ashwath Narayana, a senior student, shared his journey from Mysuru to international recognition, having performed over 25,000 cancer surgeries.
Mallikarjun Baladandi, Superintendent of Police (SP), Mysuru, emphasised the importance of remembering one’s roots and urged alumni to continue supporting their alma mater.
Senior student and renowned playback singer Ananya Bhat spoke about the institution’s multicultural environment and credited MES for nurturing her talent. She captivated the audience with the song ‘Sojugada Suju Mallige…’
Karthik Mahesh, Senior Student, Bigg Boss Season-10 Winner and Film Actor, fondly recalled his college days (2011-2014), stating that MES taught him simplicity and life values, which contributed to his success.
Shreya Babu, senior student, entrepreneur, presenter and dubbing artiste; Manohar Gowda, senior student and comedian; Amma Ramachandra, renowned folk artiste also spoke at the programme presided by T. Muralidhar Bhagwat, President, MES.
Dr. T. Vijayalakshmi Muralidhar, Hon. Secretary, welcomed. B.S. Ravikumar, Vice-President, MES, proposed a vote of thanks.
Retired Principals, senior faculty members and teachers, who rendered distinguished service, were felicitated.
Students of Niharika Hegde and Ashobhya Bhat rendered the invocation. D. Geetha and N. Sunil, Assistant Professors, Mahajana First Grade College, compered. The celebrations concluded with a vibrant cultural event followed by a DJ session.
