GTD personally handsover Rs. 50,000 to deceased’s family
Mysore/Mysuru: A man was drowned after he was swept away by gushing waters following overflowing of water from the lake at Jayapura village in the taluk on Saturday night.
The deceased is Mahesh (45), a resident of Mavinahalli village. He was crossing the road near the village, when he slipped and fell. He was swept away by the strong water force of the overflowing water from the lake.
Meanwhile, Fire and Emergency Services personnel and the Police, along with expert swimmers, conducted a search operation yesterday morning and fished out the body. The body has been shifted to Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI) mortuary for post-mortem.
MLA G.T. Devegowda (GTD), who visited the spot yesterday, conducted an inspection along with various officials. GTD, who met the family members of the deceased, consoled them, gave Rs. 50,000 from his pocket and assured them of getting compensation from the Government.
