Mysuru: In a major twist to MYMUL polls, Mavinahalli Siddegowda, a long-time Director of MYMUL (Mysuru Milk Union Ltd.) was elected as the President of the Milk body (MYMUL) on Wednesday.
Siddegowda is said to be a close associate of Chamundeshwari MLA and former Minister G.T. Devegowda. The poll had attracted a lot of interest with nominated Director S.C. Ashok, a close relative of Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa (BSY), entering the fray.
The election, which was earlier scheduled to take place on Aug. 9, was postponed due to lack of quorum.
Even as the election was postponed, in an interesting development, G.T. Devegowda met Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa at the latter’s Dollars Colony residence a few days ago, when BSY had promised a fair and transparent poll, with both the contestants S.C. Ashok and Mavinahalli Siddegowda having the backing of seven Directors each, thus setting the tone for a keen battle.
But in a major twist to Aug. 14 elections, S.C. Ashok withdrew his nomination just hours before the poll was to commence, thus paving the way for the unanimous election of MYMUL veteran Mavinahalli Siddegowda as MYMUL President.
