MCC conducts National Workshop on solid waste management

Mysuru: Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), under the aegis of Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, conducted a one-day National Workshop on Solid Waste Management at Administrative Training Institute (ATI) in city, this morning.

The day-long workshop focused on educating Corporators representing 42 States across the country about the collection and segregation of solid waste in Mysuru city.

The Corporators were taken to Yadavagiri in Mysuru to show how waste was being collected by the pourakarmikas from each houses.

Later, they were taken to Zero Waste Management Unit at Kumbarakoppal where they were explained about the segregation of waste. MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha explained the Corporators about the solid waste generated in city on daily basis and how it was being managed by the MCC.

The Corporators were also introduced to Trin Trin, the public bicycle sharing system.

Earlier, the workshop was inaugurated by Mayor M.J. Ravikumar. Deputy Mayor Rathna Lakshman, former Mayors Srikantaiah and Purushottam, MCC Executive Engineer Suresh Babu, Corporator K.C. Shoukath Pasha was present.

Corporators from 42 States including Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, New Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir took part in the workshop.
