Mysuru: Maintaining that the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Employees Co-operative Society has helped thousands of people to accomplish their dreams over the past 100 years, erstwhile Royal family member Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar has said that he was very much happy to be part of the Society’s centenary celebrations. He was speaking after inaugurating the Society’s centenary celebrations at Kalamandira here yesterday.

Pointing out the Society was formed due to the far-sightedness of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, Yaduveer said that the Society has grown by leaps and bounds over the years, doing yeomen service to its members.

Noting that he has been an ambassador of Swachh Bharat campaign, Yaduveeer said that the Society should strive for the city to regain ‘Cleanest City’ tag.

Complimenting the Society for its initiatives, he said that the Palace was always willing to extend its help to the Society in its efforts for growth of the society.

MCC Commissioner K.H. Jagadeesha, who was the guest of honour, said that the Society was established with a co-operative concept that aimed to help each other.

Noting that the Society has over, 800 members now, Jagadeesha said that the initiatives launched by the Society in the interest of the MCC workers was exemplary.

Lauding the Society for its initiatives, he said that it is laudable that the Society was successfully going ahead with its objectives at a time when several Co-operative Societies were struggling to survive.

MLA L. Nagendra, in his address, recalled his association with the Society as a three-time Corporator.

Highlighting the role of the Society in continuing the legacy of the erstwhile Mysuru rulers, he said that everyone should remember the great service rendered by the Mysuru Maharajas for comprehensive development of the city.

Yaduveer released a souvenir brought out on the occasion. Floral tributes were offered to the portrait of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar.

Also, several dignitaries and veteran co-operators were felicitated and prizes were distributed to the winners of various cultural and sports competitions organised to mark the centenary celebrations. Akshavani artiste Ravishankar compered.

Society President B. Venkatram, MCC Additional Commissioner Ravindra, MCC Deputy Commissioner Shivananada Murthy, Health Officer Dr. D.G. Nagaraj, Society Vice-President Sridevi, Treasurer Javaregowda, Directors and others were present during the programme.
