MCC Polls: Ward No.4 Congress candidate assaulted

Mysuru:  MCC Ward No.4 Congress candidate has been allegedly assaulted by a group at Bhyraveshwara Nagar here on Friday night.

The Congress candidate, identified as S. Mahesh was sitting with his supporters Ravi and Dinesh and was discussing about the polling in the Ward at about 10.30 pm when Deepak Gowda, Mallikarjun and others, who came in bikes, attacked Mahesh all of a sudden and assaulted him, according to the complaint lodged by Mahesh at Metagalli Police Station.

Stating that there was a verbal duel between Congress and JD(S) supporters at a Polling Booth in Lokanayak Nagar, Mahesh has accused that the group of assaulters had planned and assaulted him in the night.

Mahesh has also stated in the complaint that his nose and lips were injured and front teeth broken. Metagalli Police, who have registered a case in this regard, subjected Mahesh to a medical test at K.R. Hospital.

Metagalli Police have launched a hunt to nab the miscreants who had fled from the spot, ssoon afterthe assault.
