Mysuru: Sapient College and Vidhyaashram First Grade College (FGC) won the MCICT men’s and women’s Badminton Tournament respectively. The tournament was organised by the Department of Physical Education, University of Mysore (UoM) and Teresian College in association with Prof. Basavalingu and his family, at PGSC Indoor Hall in Manasagangothri, here recently.
In men’s final, Sapient College defeated SBRR Mahajana FGC 3-0 to clinch the title while JSS Science and Technology University secured third place by overcoming National Institute of Engineering (NIE). Meanwhile, in women’s section, Vidhyaashram FGC defeated JSS Science and Technology University 2-1 in finals to emerge champions. GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women won third place defeating Sapient College 2-0.

Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by UoM Vice-Chancellor Prof. N.K. Lokanath. Dr. Rajendra Prasad, CEO and MD, Suyog Group of Medical Institutions, Mysuru, was the chief guest. UoM Department of Physical Education Director Dr. C. Venkatesh presided. Teresian College Principal Dr. C. Jeyanthi, MCICT Convenor Antony Moses and others were present.
A total of 11 women’s teams and 19 men’s teams participated in this tournament.
